A message from the Chair

This year the Grand Valley Chapter has taken on the challenge to promote Technology week at a local Public School in Kitchener. This is the first time that the Grand Valley Chapter has developed a program based toward children between the grades 1 through 6. Our sub committee has meet with the principal and faculty and they are all very excited about the commitment and events were are planning to have at their school. Our theme this year is renewable energy. We have decided to discuss three major forms of renewable energy with the children. They are Wind power, Solar power and Water power. Our presentation will be base on these topics. We will engage the children and challenge them, based on their skill level to develop wind turbines, and where to locate them etc. Each grade level will have specific tasks to complete by the end of the week and present to their peers. This is a huge under taking and will be driven by GVC member volunteers. We are looking for more volunteers to assist in the preparation of this monumental event. Please contact Mike Laurie, A.Sc.T at mike.laurie@melloul.com if you can help out. We have set up a sub committee and have met several times already. We will be meeting however bi-weekly throughout the summer Starting July 1.
Have a great summer.
